There are two convenient rental options that may be available to you: an online store like OutdoorsGeek.com or ArriveOutdoors.com or a nearby brick-and-mortar store like REI. These stores offer some different gear options, but all three offer good quality, mid-priced brands for their tents, sleeping bags and pads.
REI is competitively priced for its members and provides brick and mortar store service and benefits. REI memberships are only $30 for a lifetime of benefits. Camping and hiking rental gear is not available at every REI though. Arriveoutdoors.com offers free shipping on orders over $49. OutdoorsGeek.com generally had the most options, but has substantial shipping fees.
Rental rates are difficult to compare because they may vary from a high rate on the first day, to flat daily rates to weekly rates. In this article, I will compare the total cost of the most common items based on the rental days to help you may make an informed decision for your trip.

ArriveOutdoors.com is a good, low priced option for camping gear rentals for 1 or 4 people for 1 to 3 days. REI (Member) and OutdoorsGeeks.com generally had better pricing for weekly camping set rentals.

Camping Chairs
Today’s rented camping chairs can be the large, traditional kind with cupholders or the small and lightweight kind that be collapsed and carried on a backpacking trip. A single camping chair does not cost much to rent, but if you need to add shipping costs, you may as well buy an inexpensive brand with that money. You should therefore only rent one or two from an online store if part of a larger order.

Hammock
Hammock camping is mainly seen in backpacking, but is a fun alternative to tents, provided you know how to hang the hammock and a tarp above you and can avoid bugs somehow. Remember that you may also need an insulating pad under you if you plan to sleep in the hammock on a cool night. Of course, hammocks can simply be used for relaxing during the day.
